What a day.

Drow from Menzoberranzan have been here looking for me, and I almost ran into Denin, my old boss. I can't let him see me; he's familiar with my skill at disguises and might recognize me. I could try to "buy" him off (that sort of persuasion always worked well with him), but I don't know what he's being paid to find me. I can't trust anyone right now. Except Seledra, ironically. In Cormanthor, we may have had cordial, if tense, relations with other elves, but around here, most surface elves kill drow on sight. I don't know how she got so accepting. Or naive, perhaps.

Anyway, I don't think the Menzoberranzan spies have caught wind of me, particularly, but I'm sure they've heard reports of increased drow activity. It's only natural they'd investigate.

So early yesterday morning, I rode out to the nearest outlying town to spend the day. I didn't do any "work," but I let myself be seen a few times, just enough to make it worth checking out. I took a room for the night, and left several hours before dawn to return to Silverymoon.

Seledra was sitting on my bed when I got back.

"Waiting for me and skipping morning services? Must be important."

"I have a few days off, and I didn't want to miss you. Want to go on a little trip?"

It's like she read my mind.

"Fabulous! When do we leave?" I flashed a grin.

Seledra's jaw dropped. I love it when I can get a reaction out of her. "Don't you even want to know where or why?"

"You can tell me if you want."

Looking a little put out, she told me about her cousin's impending wedding.

"Sounds lovely. When do we leave again?"

"I haven't said yet; why are you in such a hurry?"

I raised an eyebrow at her.

"Oh. Right."
